Let’s face it, the Mini Cooper Ride On, without a doubt, does have a character all its own. When a lot of manufacturers stick with mainline vehicles for toddler ride on toys, National Products kind of used a little bit of imagination on this toddler ride on toy.

• One of the first thing that kind of strikes you is that this cool Cooper actually has chrome accents! Not a little, but a lot! The front grill, the wheels and the headlight trim is chrome. So you better have lots of nice rags for your toddler to do some polishing after a long day of racing through the neighborhood or your backyard.

• This is one of the only 6v rides that has this cool feature. In the 12v rides you know you’ll see a little chrome on the Corvette and the Mustang but is this category the Cooper rules.

• Another interesting aspect of the Mini Cooper Ride on is that it is built for only one child. So you kind of have to consider your toddlers size when you’re shopping for one. Although the manufacturer says 3 years and up, toddlers older than that might get just a tiny bit bored with the ride.

• The reason is that the power plant is just one 6v battery and the Mini tops out at a speed of around 2.5 mph unlike many of the larger toddler ride-ons that have a top speed that is twice that. Also pay attention to the weight of your toddler as the vehicle is designed to operate with no more than a 66lb load. Ok..I can hear all you screaming at me..”My child isn’t that big!” Good! Then they’ll have no problem achieving the top speed!

• The Mini Cooper,  if you stop and think about it,  is really more of a first ride on vehicle for a boy or a girl. They’ve outgrown the other toys or are just plain bored with them but they haven’t really gotten big enough to ride the full size battery powered vehicles.  And with a toned downed speed, you will be able to keep up with them quite easily.

• Now speaking of toned, this cool little ride on also comes with a fully operational FM radio that is built right into the dashboard. Just like Mom and Dads Car! So besides cruising they can now chill out with some music to go with it. Personally I think that’s a rather nice touch.

So what’s the verdict on the Mini Cooper Ride on? Simple, it’s not for everyone. If you have a larger toddler that can handle the higher speed that comes with a 12v ride, then this one is not the best choice. But if you have a toddler that’s just a wee bit smaller, and you want a vehicle that can make them giggle and laugh all day and you don’t want to be worried about them running into things at 5mph or better, then this toddler ride on toy certainly deserves a very close look.

Are you a theme park lover?  A thrill seeker who loves the big rides?

When you come across a ride on toy that just makes you smile, you need to share it. And the Barbie Smart Car certainly falls into this category.

Needless to say, Mattel picked a winner of a design to carry on the long standing tradition of Barbie vehicles like the Beetle and the Lil Quad. Depending on just how adventurous you want your child to be, you have an option of keeping the top speed at 2.5 MPH or by the simple removal of a factory installed lock out screw you can let her feel the breeze whipping through her hair at a brisk 5mph. And just so you know, when she wants to tool around the neighborhood at that speed, you better have comfy shoes on because it’s a nice brisk pace!

Another nice safety feature that the Barbie Smart Car has, just like all the Mattel battery operated vehicles is that when the pedal is released the vehicles motor ceases to operate. After all, even with your expert driving instructions, things do happen where she might panic. So teach your child, when in doubt, take your foot off the pedal! OK? Good. Enough about that.

You also get Mattel’s one year Bumper To Bumper warranty. Sorry, I laugh when I read that because there really isn’t a whole lot that can go wrong with these cars. And even if it does, you have a nationwide network set up in which you can access parts via a toll free phone number.

Now depending on where you buy your Barbie Smart Car, most likely you will have to do the assembly yourself. Don’t worry though, I looked over the manual and everything is pretty straightforward. I do suggest though instead of using just a regular Phillips screwdriver, make sure you have an attachment for your drill and an extension. You will thank me for that tip. Oh, and one more thing, careful with the screws! You only get one extra! So maybe when you assemble it, do it somewhere out of the way of prying eyes and inquisitive hands.

Little Tikes ride on cars have been around for ages.  The original Cozy Coupe car has been with us for over 30 years and is adored by all who know it.  This car has been so incredibly popular that in 1998 it was noticed by the The New York Times as the worlds best selling car of the decade, “outselling” the top producers Honda Accord and Ford Taurus.

The Power Wheels Beetle is a well designed replica of the famous Volkswagen Beetle.  The Beetle was very popular from 1938 until 2003.  It was a sad day when Volkswagen decided to quit producing this adorable little car.  It was such a fast, lovable, and practical car that was a standout in its day.
